FAQs

How long will my tan last?

Your tan will look its best during the first week after your appointment and will gradually fade over time. To prolong your glow, use the right moisturizers and gentle body washes recommended by your spray tan artist!

What should I do to prep for a spray tan?

1. Exfoliate Thoroughly

Exfoliate your skin 24 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin cells.

Use an oil-free exfoliator or a dry brush for an even surface.

2. Avoid Lotions & Oils

Skip lotions, oils, deodorant, and perfumes on the day of your appointment, as they can create a barrier on your skin.

3. Shave or Wax in Advance

Shave or wax at least 24 hours before your tan to avoid irritation and ensure an even application.

4. Wear Loose, Dark Clothing

Tight clothes can cause streaking; opt for loose, dark clothing after your session.

5. Stay Makeup & Deodorant-Free

Remove all makeup and deodorant before your tan to prevent uneven color.

6. Plan Your Shower Timing

Your last shower before tanning should be at least 4 hours prior, and avoid using bar soap or heavy body wash.

7. Hydrate Your Skin (But Not Right Before!)

Keep your skin hydrated leading up to your appointment, but avoid heavy lotions on the day of your tan.

How far in advance should I get my tan for an event?

We always recommend getting sprayed for an event 2 days prior. For example, if you have a wedding on Saturday then we recommend getting sprayed Thursday.

What does aftercare look like for a spray tan?

1. Wait Before Showering
Avoid showering, sweating, or getting wet for 8-12 hours (or as directed by your spray tan artist). If you received an express tan, rinse off at the recommended time to achieve your desired shade.

2. Take a Lukewarm Rinse
Your first shower should be a quick, lukewarm rinse—no soap or scrubbing! Avoid hot water, loofahs, and bar soaps, which can strip your tan.

3. Pat Dry, Don’t Rub
Gently pat your skin dry with a towel instead of rubbing to prevent fading.

4. Moisturize Daily
Keep your skin hydrated with an oil-free moisturizer to extend your tan. Avoid lotions with alcohol or fragrances that can cause patchiness.

5. Use Gentle, Tan-Safe Products
Wash with sulfate-free, oil-free body wash to prevent stripping your tan. Avoid exfoliating scrubs until you’re ready for your next tan.

6. Stay Away from Pools & Hot Tubs
Chlorine and saltwater can cause your tan to fade faster, so minimize swimming if possible.

7. Wear Loose, Breathable Clothing
Tight clothing and excessive friction (like from leggings or bras) can lead to uneven fading.

8. Extend Your Glow
Consider using a gradual tanning lotion or tan extender to maintain your color.

9. Avoid Excessive Sweating
Heavy workouts, saunas, and excessive sweating can make your tan fade faster.

10. When It’s Time to Remove
Once your tan starts fading, exfoliate gently to ensure an even fade before your next session.
